Jane spent several years living in the glen during wartime, where she and her mother stayed in the bothy not far from The Lodge and kept goats which they used to shepherd back and forth across the swing bridge. During the week in term time, Jane joined the Noble children and others for schooling at Ardkinglas, where she told us she had a room in a turret. Granny (Margaret) and Grandpa (Charles) later farmed in Taynuilt where they spent the rest of their lives.
