Clachan Beag | 23 occupants (1939 - 2014)
Is owned by Ernie and Irene McPherson. The house was built by the Hydro Board in 1956 to replace old Clachan Beag, which is now called Low Burn, because when the Hydro scheme was being built they tipped rubbish into the head of the burn and there was a landslide that came right through the old house on the roadside and it was condemned, so this was a replacement. It's a simple rectangular gabled house of Cafferty wall construction, with a rendered plinth and probably ease dale slated roof. The original cast iron gutters have been replaced but the cast iron rain water pipe remains. The window frames were probably originally timber sash windows, but have now been replaced with double glazed UPVC windows. There is a flat roofed extension to the rear containing an additional dining area. The house has three bedrooms, two with en-suite, and a shower room and kitchen. The original narrow entrance steps have been extended to form a terrace. The slates are very small and could have been some of the last slates out of Ballachulish quarry.
